  1. Volume Definitions

  3. Note: The Mount button allows you to mount all volumes which are off-line.  It
  4.            depends upon the state of the drivers and if it does not work after two 
  5.            or three clicks, you will probably have to reboot to get the volume
  6.            back on line.  After each press of the button, the results will appear 
  7.            above the button stating how many volumes were mounted and, if any 
  8.            were mounted, inform you that the Volume list was updated 
  9.            to reflect this change

  11.            [Text] = Field only exists under given circumstance
  12.          
  13. 窶｢ Volume Name = Name of volume if one is present in drive.  "Not in Queue" 
  14.            means that the drive is not entered in the drive queue but that its driver 
  15.            is entered in the Unit Table
  16.    笳Š File Count = Number of files on volume
  17.    笳Š Folder Count = Number of folders on volume
  18.    笳Š Boot Volume = Was this Volume used to startup the machine?
  19.    笳Š Port = Is the drive on an internal or external port?  A floppy drive #1 and
  20.               a SCSI drive #0 are considered internal
  21.    笳Š Media = Does the drive use fixed or removable (e.g. a cartridge) media?
  22.    笳Š Hardware Lock = Is the disk containing the volume physically locked?

  24.    笳Š Software Lock = Is the volume locked by software?
  25.    笳Š Hierarchical = Is the volume organized in a hierarchical manner or is it flat
  26.               file.  Flat file generally only applies to 400K floppies
  27.    笳Š Size = Capacity of volume or capacity of drive if no volume is mounted
  28.    笳Š Free = Free space on volume
  29.    笳Š Allocation Block Size = Minimum number of bytes which can be allocated
  30.               to a new file or added to an existing file when it runs out of space 
  31.    笳Š Last Initialized = Date and time volume was last initialized
  32.    笳Š Last Backup = Date and time volume was last backed up.  This may not be
  33.               accurate if for some reason the backup software used does not set this
  34.               information
  35.    笳Š Volume# =  Volume number assigned to volume when mounted. Always a
  36.               negative number
  37.    笳Š Drive# = Drive number assigned to drive when it窶冱 driver is assigned a 
  38.               position in the device table and the drive is entered in the drive queue
  39.    笳Š SCSI# = The number set mechanically on the drive if it is a SCSI drive on the
  40.               on the standard SCSI bus
  41.    笳Š Driver# = Number of the driver controlling the drive. Check Driver list
  42.    笳Š Driver Name = Name of the driver controlling the drive. Check Driver list
  43.    笳Š Volume Attributes : 
  44.       + Boot Blocks = Is the volume capable of being a startup volume?
  45.       + Switch Launch = Is switch-launch to this volume allowed?
  46.       + System Directory = Does the volume support a system 
  47.               directory? If not, you may not attempt a switch-launch to it
  48.       + External File System = Was the volume created by a Non-Mac
  49.               operating system, e.g. DOS?
  50.       + File IDs = Does the volume support the System 7 
  51.               procedure for tracking files?  This helps developers keep track of files 
  52.               used by their applications
  53.       + Folder Lock = Can folders on this volume be locked?
  54.       + Edit Volume Name = Can the volume name be changed
  55.       + System 7 desktop Functions = Does the volume 
  56.               support the new desktop features such as aliasing, stationary, find file,
  57.               etc.?
  58.       + AFP Privilege Functions = Does the volume support the AFP 
  59.               (Appletalk Filing Protocol) that allows for application and file sharing?
  60.       + AFP Access Control Functions = Volume supports PBHGetLoginInfo,
  61.               PBHGetDirAccess, PBHSetDirAccess, PBHMapID, and PBHMapName
  62.       + AFP Short Names = Yes/No
  63.       + Inherited Folder Privileges = Can folders inherit access privileges
  64.               from parent folders?
  65.       + PBCatSearch = Does the volume support the System 7 method for
  66.               searching a volume quickly, e.g. as used by Find File?
  67.       + PBHMoveRename = Yes/No
  68.       + PBHCopyFile = Yes/No
  69.       + PBHOpenDeny = Yes/No
